2 Minutes SLASHES Heart Disease Risk (EASY!)
There’s no way around it. If you want to boost your heart health, you have to improve your lifestyle.
In a world of quick fixes and easy-way-outs, that can sound daunting.
But it doesn’t have to be.
Study after study shows us that small changes can make a BIG difference in your heart health.
Like this next one…
How many minutes a day are you willing to dedicate to your heart health?
60?
30?
What about two?
That’s right… about two minutes daily (give or take) could lower your heart disease risk by nearly 20 percent.
That is… if you spend those minutes climbing a few flights of stairs.
This study examined data from more than 450,000 folks, which included a survey of lifestyle practices like stair climbing.
After following the volunteers for 12 years, the researchers found that climbing 50 stairs daily (about five flights) was tied to a nearly 20 percent reduced risk of heart disease.
Stair climbing significantly impacts heart health because it involves a short burst of high-intensity exercise. Studies consistently show this type of training is as good (or BETTER) for your heart than longer, more moderate, intensity exercise.
Walking up stairs is more beneficial than walking on flat surfaces because it uses more muscles and balance. Plus, it increases your heart rate and oxygen uptake.
So, if you have stairs in your home, make it a point to climb them throughout the day. If you’re heading to a doctor’s appointment, take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Because just that little bit of extra activity can do wonders for your heart.
