7 Habits SLASH Depression Risk
You don’t want to end up with depression.
And it’s not just your mood you need to worry about. Depression affects your job, relationships, and your very outlook on life.
Unlike some other conditions, prescription drugs to treat it are notoriously INEFFECTIVE.
They call it “treatment-resistant” depression—as if it’s the condition’s fault that the drug didn’t work (as opposed to the drug’s).
You can do BETTER.
And it starts with dodging the depression in the first place.
A recent study identified seven powerful habits that can build a NATURAL wall of protection against depression.
Researchers examined data from 280,000 individuals. After a 13-year follow-up, they found seven key lifestyle habits that reduce depression risk.
- Less sedentary behavior
- Limited drinking
- Never smoking
- Getting enough sleep
- Exercise
- Eating healthy food
- Socializing
Even people who followed just five of these habits had a 57 percent lower risk of depression.
And following three—socializing, exercising, and sleeping—still reduced depression risk by 20 percent.
But, the researchers didn’t stop with simple depression scores. They also used brain scans to look at actual brain function.
What they found was that healthy living was connected to BIGGER areas of the brain that affect mood, like the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.
This suggests that lifestyle habits can literally alter brain function.
But whether you’re concerned about depression or not, these seven healthy habits are worth following. After all, they’ll leave you healthier and feeling FANTASTIC.
I try to practice ALL of them.
