Urgent Statins Warning for Seniors
Dear Reader,
When it comes to cholesterol-lowering statins, I feel like I’ve been living a bad dream for the past 30 years.
Big Pharma has sold a TRILLION dollars’ worth of these poison pills – even though they come with life-wrecking side effects like muscle pain, neuropathy, liver damage, and memory loss.
And just when you think the news on these drugs couldn’t get any worse, it somehow does.
For example, a recent study showed that statins increase the risk of diabetes by more than 50 percent in older women.
After studying over 8,000 women aged 76-82 for 10 years, researchers found that the risk of new-onset diabetes increased by up to 51 percent in women taking statins.
That’s right – new-onset diabetes. As in, these women weren’t diabetic when they started taking statins – but they sure didn’t stay that way.
In fact, the connection was so strong that the researchers conducting the study suggested that older women avoid using higher doses of statins.
I have a better idea: they should just avoid using statins altogether.
This isn’t the first time statin use has been shown to increase the risk of diabetes. A study published a few years back showed that women who used statins had a 71 percent elevated risk for diabetes compared to those not using statins.
Diabetes is nothing to mess around with. It is the leading cause of blindness, amputations, neuropathy, and kidney failure. It also contributes to stroke and heart attack risk—an ironic twist, since statins are supposed to be protecting your heart.
By now, nobody should be surprised that statins are so harmful. After all, they “work” by lowering cholesterol—and cholesterol is absolutely essential for life!
You see, these meds were first developed for certain high-risk people, like those with genetic disorders that send their cholesterol numbers off the charts. But in an effort to sell more pills, the drug companies have worked tirelessly to expand statins for prevention. Don’t fall for it.
Studies show that they don’t save lives, which means that the risk simply outweighs the benefit.
The real answer for lowering heart risk and improving mortality is to get off processed foods, especially refined starches and vegetable oils. It’s not easy—especially at first—but it’s effective. And in addition to lowering your risk of heart disease, you’ll be lowering your risk of diabetes—and a host of other diseases—too.
To a brighter day,
