Vitamin Intervention SLASHES Blood Pressure
There are a lot of risks that go along with being overweight.
Obesity increases your risk of 13 types of cancer, type 2 diabetes, joint issues, bone problems, and even mental health.
But number one on the list is the increased risk of high blood pressure, which ultimately raises your risk of heart disease and stroke.
The good news is an easy vitamin intervention could help naturally lower your blood pressure.
A recent study revealed that supplementing with vitamin D could lower blood pressure in older, obese adults.
For the study, some volunteers took 600 IUs of D daily, while others took 3,750 IUs.
Both groups experienced measurable decreases in their blood pressure, regardless of how much they were taking.
These results aren’t surprising.
After all, vitamin D is already known for its ability to…
- reduce inflammation,
- improve vascular function,
- and regulate calcium (which helps blood vessels relax and contract).
However, what is important about this study is that it highlights how vitamin D benefits those who are at a higher risk for high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke… seniors and those struggling with obesity.
It also highlights that more is not always better when it comes to vitamin D.
The best approach is to only take what your body needs to maintain optimal vitamin D status—which will differ for everyone based on individual circumstances.
This is why I recommend getting your vitamin D tested regularly.
If you find yours are lagging, you can bring them back up (and keep them there) by spending more time in the sun and eating more eggs, fatty fish, and mushrooms. If necessary, you can also take a vitamin D supplement until you reach optimal levels.
P.S. The bad habit that’s secretly robbing YEARS from your life.
