My Mother’s Best Health Advice
Do you know the best thing my mother did for my health when I was a kid?
She sent me outside to play.
She didn’t need a study to tell her this was good for me.
But now, we have one anyway. And this recent research has proven why this advice is just as great for the children in your life.
My three boys are out of the house now, but my first grandchild was born last year, and you can bet I want the best for her health.
I know you also want the same for the kiddos in your life.
That’s why you should always schedule some outside playtime when they come to visit.
A recent study tracked the diets and activity levels of 2,500 children from 2 to 15 years old. The results showed that kids who were active for 60 minutes daily and had adequate vitamin D levels had stronger bones.
And how do kids load up on vitamin D?
From the sun!
These kids had 12 percent higher bone stiffness scores than kids who were active for 60 minutes a day but had low vitamin D levels.
Here’s the thing… the same thing that supports strong bones in kids also supports bone health in adults.
So rather than sending your grandkids outside to play, why not join them instead.
P.S. Bone health is only one reason to send the kiddos outside to play. Other recent research reveals why sunshine is ALSO critical for better vision.
