Lower Blood Sugar 30%?! (Try This Simple Eating Trick)
Diet advice is a lot like the weather…
Just wait long enough, and it will change.
If you’re struggling to manage your type 2 diabetes, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
There are about 1,000 different books out there with advice on how you should eat with diabetes. Lots of them have conflicting advice – and a lot of it is terrible.
But researchers out of Egypt may have finally put this debate to rest for good.
In a new study, they found one easy-to-follow eating plan slashed high blood sugar 30% in diabetics – and improved their triglycerides and “bad” cholesterol, too.
And if you want to learn about it, you’ve come to the right place – because I’ve been following this diet myself for years.
You’ve heard me talk about the Paleo diet before. It follows an eating pattern focused on whole, unprocessed foods—like meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds.
On the Paleo diet, you’re eating like our hunter-gatherer ancestors – if a food didn’t exist during their time, you don’t eat it.
I follow a modified form of the Paleo diet (I’ll explain more on that in a moment), and it’s been essential for helping me stay youthful, healthy, and energized as I age.
Now, we’re learning more about the impressive health benefits the Paleo diet can deliver for people with type 2 diabetes.
In a new study out of Egypt, researchers had 100 diabetics follow either a Paleo diet or their regular diet for three months, along with their standard diabetes treatment.
Just check out these results the Paleo diet delivered:
- 30% lower HbA1c, compared to the control group
- 19% lower fasting glucose
- 18% lower triglycerides
- 19% lower LDL or “bad” cholesterol
Show me a single prescription drug that can do all of that.
My favorite part of the Paleo diet is that you don’t have to eat like a bird. Foods like marinated chicken breast, smoked salmon, and mouth-watering steak are all back on the menu – and ultra-processed foods are out.
Now, as I said, I follow a modified version of the Paleo diet. The real modification is that I emphasize fish over other sources of protein – and I’ll often eat trout I catch myself.
Fish are a rich source of DHA, which is excellent for supporting our mitochondria – the little energy centers of our cells.
There are great resources for getting started on the Paleo diet, including thepaleodiet.com.
But, remember, it doesn’t need to be complicated. Cut out the processed foods and focus on foods that would have been available to our caveman ancestors – you know, real foods.
