Can Nature’s “Green Secret” Reverse Alzheimer’s Disease?!
There are two words that send shivers down everyone’s spine:
Alzheimer’s disease.
It’s a condition that’s characterized by a buildup of toxic beta-amyloid plaques in your brain. They interfere with the communication between neurons in your brain, and they lead to the death of neurons.
It’s a devastating double-whammy.
But a recent study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease found that nature’s “green secret” could be instrumental in clearing out these toxic proteins from your brain.
Medical marijuana continues to make headlines.
Some think its health benefits are a bunch of hooey. Others say it can help treat everything from pain to anxiety to cancer.
But as states begin to legalize the use of CBD (the non-psychoactive component of marijuana), studies showing its benefits are starting to pile up—and its list of benefits is growing.
In fact, a recent study showed that CBD could be a game-changer when it comes to Alzheimer’s disease.
For this study, researchers found that giving high doses of CBD to mice with early-onset Alzheimer’s boosted two key proteins in their brains: IL-33 and TREM2.
Both of these proteins help your brain’s immune cells clean out dead cells and other debris from your brain — and both proteins are decreased in people with Alzheimer’s disease.
Treatment with CBD increased levels of IL-33 by seven times, and increased levels of TREM2 by 10 times.
These increases were enough to normalize levels of these proteins in the mice with Alzheimer’s.
Long story short – the results showed an improvement in cognitive function in those with early-onset Alzheimer’s.
That could go a long way toward preventing and reversing the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
CBD helped the IL-33 protein send a signal that there were invaders in the brain that needed to be removed. IL-33 also helps tame inflammation in the brain and helps restore immune balance.
And CBD helped TREM2 to combine with other proteins on cells surfaces to activate immune cells like microglial cells. These help remove viruses and damaged neurons from the brain.
In addition, the CBD treatment reduced levels of IL-6, a protein that’s been linked with high levels of inflammation in Alzheimer’s patients.
But the CBD did more than boost these proteins.
The study showed that doing so produced measurable cognitive benefits, with the mice preforming better on tests of cognitive function.
And in those that experienced movement problems like stiffness or impaired gait, treatment with CBD reversed those issues.
Of course, this was a mouse study, not a human study. So, more research needs to be done.
But, personally, I was impressed by the results.
As more and more states legalize the use of medical marijuana, this natural treatment could offer hope to an otherwise hopeless disease.
P.S. When it comes to Alzheimer’s, you don’t want to take ANY chances. Which is why I urge you to click here now and read about the food that could raise your risk for this disease.
