  • People with OA had much lower levels of vitamin D.
  • The OA patients were more likely to be outright deficient in vitamin D, compared to those without OA.

And here’s where it gets really interesting…

Those with lower vitamin D levels had higher levels of pain intensity, disability, and anxiety… and did worse on tests of walking speed, sitting-to-standing, and social participation.

In other words, there was a clear relationship between vitamin D levels and pain intensity.

Fighting the pain of osteoarthritis can feel like a losing battle.
