The Cholesterol Double Take

Way back in 1961, the American Heart Association began warning Americans that some of their favorite foods — including eggs, liver, and shellfish — contained a potentially dangerous compound called “cholesterol” and urged them to limit its consumption. Never mind that these were all foods that had been traditionally associated with robust health and with which humans had a million years of evolutionary history.

Worrying About Mercury in Seafood? Don’t.

Are you restricting your fish consumption because of the FDA’s warnings about mercury contamination? Any stockbroker knows fear is stronger than greed. So it’s easy to persuade people to fear, and avoid, fish. But perhaps we’d be smarter to be greedy for its benefits. Fish are packed with omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients that support heart and brain health.

The Little Bible of 77 Censored Cures

You probably won’t hear anyone from the government endorsing these ideas. They haven’t gone through the FDA’s approval process, which usually takes over ten years to complete. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t trust these health solutions. They’ve undergone numerous scientific studies. And more important, many of them have withstood the test of time. They’re the same remedies used by people hundreds or thousands of years ago.
