You Don’t Need More Sleep… You Need More of This

I had sleep problems myself for much of my life. One day at lunch about two years ago, I mentioned my troubles to Rubin Naiman, the subject of this month’s cover story and an acknowledged world authority on sleep. “I don’t think you necessarily need more sleep,” he said. “I think you need more dreaming.”

Drink This Daily to Protect Your Liver

As a lifelong addicted coffee guzzler, I’m delighted by the ongoing research indicating that my beloved perk offers abundant health benefits. Google Doesn’t Lie

The world appears to be waking up from a 60-year collective delusion that “low-fat” foods would save us from heart disease, cancer, stroke, obesity, and the other chronic diseases of modern life. A Mistake Almost Everyone Makes About Fat

The fact that “dietary fat” makes many people think of “the fat hanging over my belt” is a linguistic tragedy. In her indispensable book The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat, & Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet, journalist Nina Teicholz says “fat” is an “unfortunate homonym.” She is exactly right. Fat in food is distinct from fat around the waist, but the fact that the same term describes both leads to endless confusion.
