[Discovered!] The BEST Exercise for Arthritis (35 Minutes)
When your joints are screaming at you, the last thing you want to do is use them—and you especially don’t want to OVER-use them.
In fact, you probably want to just avoid using them altogether.
And the thought of strenuous exercise? No thank you!
But it might be one of the best things for you.
In fact, one particular type of workout has been shown to provide pain relief… fast.
Unlike osteoarthritis, which occurs from too much wear-and-tear on your joints, rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that happens when your body attacks your own joints.
The result is swelling, stiffness, and pain—and ultimately a miserable quality of life.
So when it hurts to use a certain joint, I don’t blame you for wanting to avoid moving it. And I especially don’t blame you for turning your nose up at a strenuous workout.
But as it turns out, a vigorous workout could be one of the best things for you.
Because instead of exacerbating your symptoms… it can relieve them.
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is typically more effective than moderate intensity training at improving endurance.
Researchers wanted to see if HIIT would have positive effects on people with RA as well. A group of women with RA did hard training on an exercise bike for 10 weeks.
- This consisted of a 10-minute warm-up (at 70 percent of maximum pulse).
- Four-minute high-intensity intervals (at about 90 percent of maximum pulse).
- Three-minute break between intervals (at 70 percent of maximum pulse).
They complete four intervals, for a total workout of 35 minutes.
The researchers found that there were no negative effects on the joints of the women with RA.
They also experienced reduced inflammation—the hallmark problem of rheumatoid arthritis—as measured by CRP.
They experienced an increase in maximum oxygen intake, and oxygen promotes healing in your body.
Other benefits included a reduction in BMI, body fat percent, and waist measurement, and an increase in muscle mass.
So not only did they feel better, they looked better, too.
If you’ve been avoiding exercise because of your sore joints, give it a try. You might be surprised by the results.
