Could These CURTAINS Save Your Health?! (Don’t Miss This)
It seems like the older we get, the more serious we become about our health.
I know I have…
So you eat right… you exercise… and you never miss a doctor’s appointment.
But, believe it or not, one of the greatest threats to your health may come from your own bedroom.
And the fix could be as simple as a new set of curtains.
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary – the place you go to rest and recover after a long day.
But for all of that to work, the room has to be pitch black at night.
When you have artificial light in your bedroom at night, it interferes with the release of melatonin – a key hormone that helps you sleep.
And without deep sleep, your body can’t engage in the repair and recovery processes that happen at night. That’s especially true for your brain, which uses sleep as an opportunity to clear out toxins.
New research out of China looked at the effects of artificial blue light exposure at night, particularly among city dwellers.
They found that this light delayed the release of melatonin, damaged sleep quality, and even led to metabolic disorders.
Now, these researchers were focused on excessive lighting or “light pollution” you typically see in cities.
But the same principle applies no matter where you live. You need to switch off all lights and devices in your bedroom when you’re preparing for sleep.
If outside light is getting into your bedroom at night, consider investing in blackout curtains or shades.
Research shows that simply adding these curtains or shades to your bedroom windows can block up to 95% of outside light.
If it’s in your budget, I recommend blackout curtains or shades that are on a motorized timer, so you can get pitch-black darkness at night, and sunlight first thing every morning.
