DEATH by Ultra-Processed Foods?!
There’s no doubt about it… a diet high in ultra-processed foods (UPFs) will kill you, one way or another.
Last week, I told you about a common ingredient in these foods that’s been tied to an increased risk of cancer—especially of the breast and prostate. (Catch up here.)
Now, there’s ANOTHER alarming study you need to know about BEFORE your next grocery store trip…
New research reveals eating more UPFs is linked to a higher risk of developing or dying from DOZENS of different health conditions.
In a review of 45 studies including more than 10 million people, researchers assessed the connection between these faux foods and 45 different health conditions.
There are two alarming parts of this study.
First, eating more processed foods is linked to over 70 percent of the health outcomes studied.
Second, “higher amounts” were defined as one serving—or 10 percent more—processed foods daily.
For example, eating more of this junk was associated with a…
- 50 percent higher risk of heart-disease–related death
- 50 percent higher risk of common mental disorders
- 53 percent increased risk of anxiety
- 20 percent increased risk of early death from any cause
Evidence also suggested a diet heavy in UPFs was tied to a…
- 55 percent increased risk of obesity
- 41 percent increased risk of sleep problems
- 40 percent increased risk of type 2 diabetes
- 20 percent increased risk of depression
But let’s be honest.
Are we really surprised here? We KNOW this junk is bad for us.
Besides the sugar, calories, and sodium, these foods are ALSO loaded with chemicals we can’t even pronounce that are designed to improve flavor, texture, shelf-life, and appearance.
In fact, I hesitate to call them food at all.
Sadly, avoiding these UPFs is no easy task. They make up over 70 percent of the U.S. food supply and 60-70 percent of Americans’ diets.
So, the solution isn’t necessarily simple… but it IS clear. Eat real food, read labels, and skip the fast-food chains.
Your health and future depend on it.
P.S. It’s official: Americans’ brains are under attack. I’m talking about major chemical warfare here… but not the kind you’re thinking of. Uncover the threat and discover the solution… HERE
