Dial Down Diabetes Risk DESPITE Genetics
Type 2 diabetes isn’t just increasing… it’s skyrocketing.
Over the next 20 years, it’s projected to increase by 46 percent.
Despite our modern advances, mainstream medicine can’t seem to get ahead of this condition.
But there IS something that can dramatically reduce your risk—even if you are genetically predisposed for the disease.
I’ll admit that when I first read this study’s title, my initial thought was, “Duh.”
Researchers found that diet and exercise can reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.
That’s not exactly newsworthy.
But there was more to this study that IS worth talking about.
The study included about 1,000 men aged 50 to 75. All had elevated fasting glucose levels at the beginning of the study, but they had not crossed the threshold to type 2 diabetes.
The men were also either in the highest or lowest genetic risk category for type 2 diabetes.
About half of the participants were in the lifestyle group, which received information and support on health-promoting lifestyles. The others were in the placebo group.
Over the next three years, the men in the healthy lifestyle group…
- improved the quality of their diets,
- increased dietary fiber,
- lost weight, and
- increased their physical activity.
Three years later, the healthy lifestyle group had a significantly reduced risk of type 2 diabetes…regardless of their genetic risk.
This tells me that your choices in life make a far bigger difference in your diabetes risk than your grandparents do.
And THAT is news worth sharing.
P.S. The INCREDIBLE payoff for delaying diabetes.
