Diet Soda Danger REVEALED
Most people who drink diet sodas think they’re doing something beneficial for their health.
After all, the alternative high-sugar and high-calorie drinks pack on the pounds, spike your blood sugar and increase your risk of metabolic syndrome, heart disease, and even cancer. (See Friday’s Natural Health Today for more.)
But don’t let these wolves in sheep’s clothing fool you.
These drinks are not healthy. In fact, a recent study revealed that they pose an unexpected threat.
Researchers analyzed data on more than 200,000 people they followed for about 10 years.
They found that those who drank two liters or more per week of artificially sweetened beverages had a 20 percent increased risk of atrial fibrillation.
A-fib, as it’s commonly called, is an irregular heartbeat. And it’s the leading cause of stroke in the U.S.
But the threats don’t end there. An irregular heartbeat can also lead to…
- heart failure,
- blood clots,
- increased risk of heart attack,
- elevated dementia risk,
- and an increased kidney disease risk.
Now, keep in mind this wasn’t a cause-and-effect type study. So, the data doesn’t prove diet sodas directly caused stroke or those other ailments.
But it does highlight an alarming connection that could be DEADLY to ignore.
Plus, when this recent finding is combined with other established adverse effects of diet sodas—like disruptions to gut health, cardiovascular problems, increased craving for sweets, and even weight gain—that’s all the evidence I need to stay away from the stuff.
I hope you do, too.
P.S. The one “diet” food you should NEVER eat.
