Do Vegetarians Live LONGER than Carnivores?
Meat-haters have bashed animal-based foods for decades.
They insist that eating plants will give you a healthier, longer life—while eating meat will put you on the fast track to an early death.
There’s no doubt that vegetables are good for you. You’ll get no argument from me on that point.
But their other claim is nothing but hogwash. Eating meat will NOT be the death of you.
In fact, a recent study provides even more proof that eating like your caveman ancestors isn’t as bad as those “Plants-Only” people claim.
In the new study, over 110,000 people in a cancer screening trial completed extensive questionnaires about their diet history.
The volunteers were divided into four groups:
- vegan (people who eat no animal products),
- lacto-ovo-vegetarians (folks who eat dairy and eggs),
- pesco-vegetarians (folks who eat fish and seafood),
- and omnivores (people who eat ALL meat products).
The participants were then followed for 18 years, and researchers tracked the National Death Index database for data on all-cause mortality.
In the end, there was no difference in all-cause mortality between the groups.
In other words, eating meat is NOT going to send you to an early grave. And going all veggie won’t guarantee that you’ll live past 100.
Now, I’ll be the first to point out that this study had limitations. For example, it didn’t track how long individuals stayed on their specific diet during the follow-up period.
But it still adds another small piece of evidence to a larger dietary puzzle—and the picture is starting to become clear:
Meat is NOT bad for you. And it’s also loaded with nutrients that are essential for a healthy body.
Eat it and enjoy.
P.S. The red meat myth is FINALLY busted. Turns out it’s a practically perfect health food
