Dr. G’s #1 New Year’s Resolution
As you think about your New Year’s resolution, I have a challenge for you.
Rather than picking something predictable (like losing weight, exercising more, or eating better), resolve to put one lifestyle change into practice that can impact virtually every aspect of your health.
This change helps…
- heart health by influencing blood pressure
- weight by impacting hormones and digestion
- cancer risk by impacting gut bacteria
- diabetes risk by helping regulate blood sugar
Have you guessed what I’m talking about yet?
It’s your circadian rhythm or internal body clock that follows the day/night cycle of the sun.
When it’s set correctly, your body simply runs better.
Body clock-driven changes that happen based on the time of day include slowed calorie burning, amplified fat storage, and increased hunger levels.
Circadian rhythm is why eating late at night is more likely to cause weight gain.
It’s also the reason why night shift workers have an increased risk of heart disease, cancer, mood issues, sleep disorders, metabolic syndrome, and more.
Simply put, one of the single best things you can resolve to do for your health in the upcoming year is to FIX your circadian rhythm.
Once this internal clock is set, you’ll notice the trickle-down effect in practically every area of your health.
Here are my top tips to help get you started.
- Be outside at sunrise with your eyes and skin exposed.
- Spend time in the sun throughout the day (but primarily in the morning).
- Don’t eat after the sun goes down.
- Exercise regularly, preferably outdoors and in the afternoon.
- Turn off your lights, Wi-Fi, cell phones, and power grid at night.
- Establish a routine bedtime and wake-up time.
You know what they say, “New year, new you.” Why not make it the HEALTHIEST version of yourself possible?
P.S. Get your new year started off right by resetting your body clock to REVERSE the underlying cause of today’s deadliest diseases…and even press “pause” on aging itself. Click here to get all the details on my Circadian Reset Protocol.
