Eat THIS Fat to Lose Weight
A couple of days ago, I shared how taking a Mediterranean approach to life… which includes eating a lot of HEALTHY fat… could help you live longer and reduce your cancer risk.
But following this routine (which is more than just a diet plan) is the gift that keeps on giving…
Because sow, yet another study has highlighted a key piece of this life-extending approach that helps with weight loss, fights inflammation, and decreases body mass index.
Oh, and it’s ALSO delicious…
You’ve probably heard that dietary fat is the enemy. That it prevents us from maintaining a healthy weight and ultimately leads to diabetes.
But that’s a bald-faced lie.
Your body NEEDS healthy fat to function. Fat provides energy for your body, creates healthy cells, builds your brain, and makes hormones.
But fat does MORE than support these critical functions. Despite what you’ve heard, certain types of fat BENEFIT people battling obesity and prediabetes.
And it turns out this is especially true of extra virgin olive oil, a staple of the Mediterranean diet.
In fact, many experts believe that olive oil is one of the MOST important factors behind the health benefits associated with this lifestyle.
A recent study involving volunteers with obesity and prediabetes revealed just how powerful this fat is.
When participants ate bisphenol-rich extra virgin olive for one month, it was linked to some impressive health benefits, including:
- Increased blood antioxidant defenses
- Decreased signs of oxidative stress and inflammation
- Less oxidation of blood lipids (linked to atherosclerosis, inflammation, and aging)
- Decreased body weight
- Decreased body mass index
- Improvement in fasting glucose
These are key underlying factors in developing insulin resistance and, ultimately, diabetes.
But not all olive oil is created equal.
This was demonstrated when a second group of volunteers who ate NON-extra-virgin olive oil didn’t experience these same benefits.
Adding extra virgin olive oil to your diet is easy to do. You can cook with it, use it in salad dressings, drizzle it on side dishes, and combine it with your favorite spices to make delicious dipping oils.
Be generous with this HEALTHY fat—just make sure you’re using the extra virgin variety.
P.S. Don’t miss this potent diabetes cure hiding in your pantry.
