Worse: You’re probably not getting enough

Dementia is spreading like an epidemic in America.

Some people will tell you that it’s caused by your faulty genetics.

In reality, you have a lot of say in what diseases you do and don’t get – including dementia.

Case in point: A simple vitamin deficiency can make you twice as likely to develop dementia.

Fortunately, there are simple ways to fix your problem – and protect your brain.

I’ve talked about the benefits of vitamin D a lot over the years.

Like how it can help cancer patients live longer.

Or how it can help prevent multiple sclerosis – while also helping improve depression in patients who already have MS.

Or how boosting your vitamin D levels can help prevent the flu, reduce the number of migraines, or even improve sexual function in women.

I could go on – and I think I will.

Because today I want to tell you about another little-known benefit of this wonder nutrient: It can help protect against dementia.

In a study published in the journal Neurology, researchers looked at the blood levels of vitamin D in more than 1,600 people who did not have dementia at the beginning of the study.

Five years later, people who had vitamin D levels of 25 mnol/L were TWICE as likely to have Alzheimer’s disease or some other form of dementia.

That’s an alarming finding, considering that average vitamin D levels in the US are estimated to hover right around that 25 mnol/L mark.

That’s only a little under the current recommended levels – but it’s FAR below what current research has found to be the most beneficial… which are numbers closer to 50-80 mnol/L.

Chances are you’re not getting enough vitamin D, but I recommend getting a blood test to find out exactly where you stand.

But you don’t have to wait around for the results to start improving your levels… spend as much time outside as you can, eat more foods like salmon, eggs, and liver, and if your levels still need a boost, add in a vitamin D supplement.

Your entire body will thank you.
