Fight Knee Pain with Ancient “Indian Spice”
Painful, aching knees can bring you to a halt. Suddenly, you stop doing the things you enjoy most — like playing tennis, gardening, or dancing.
What’s worse, painful knees can make everyday movements miserable. Even getting out of bed or climbing the steps feels like a chore!
But before you reach for Advil or Tylenol to mask the pain, I have a better idea…
It’s an all-natural “Indian Spice” that is just as effective as acetaminophen at reducing pain—with none of the nasty side effects.
Knee osteoarthritis a wear-and-tear problem.
It shows up when the cartilage that cushions your joints wears down, leading to stiffness, pain, and inflammation.
NSAIDs (like Advil) and analgesics (like Tylenol) can bring temporary relief, but they don’t fix the problem.
And if you use them for long periods of time, they can cause even BIGGER issues than the ones you started with — like gastrointestinal, renal, and cardiovascular side effects.
But there’s a better solution.
It’s nature’s anti-inflammatory: turmeric.
Turmeric is a spice that dates back thousands of years all the way to Southern India.
In a clinical study, 193 patients with knee osteoarthritis took either a 650mg table of paracetamol (an analgesic) three times a day for six weeks (that’s a LOT of paracetamol)… or 500 mg of a turmeric extract twice a day.
After 6 weeks, the turmeric group showed significant improvement over the paracetamol group in ALL of the parameters evaluated using the WOMAC index (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis index).
This is a popular evaluation of parameters like pain, stiffness, and physical functioning of the joints.
Nearly 20 percent of the turmeric group noted a 50 percent improvement, and some even reported a 70 percent improvement.
In addition, CRP levels (a measure of inflammation) were reduced by 37 percent, and TNF-a (this is a protein in your body that causes inflammation) levels were reduced by nearly 75 percent.
This indicates that turmeric’s pain-relieving properties occur as a result of its powerful anti-inflammatory properties!
The main component of turmeric, a compound called curcumin, is well-known for its anti-inflammatory powers.
It has been used for centuries for ailments ranging from arthritis and respiratory infections to gastrointestinal issues and cancer.
The problem with curcumin is that your body doesn’t absorb it easily, which means it can be difficult to make use of its anti-inflammatory effects.
To get around this issue, look for a curcumin product that includes other ingredients to boost curcumin’s bioavailability.
One of the best Turmeric extracts I’ve found is called Curcumin Elite. It has 45 times more bioavailability than the active forms of turmeric compounds.
