Mom’s Best Health Advice CONFIRMED
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m betting the LAST thing on your mind today is eating “healthy.”
But what does that even MEAN anyway?
Well, like everything else, what defines a healthy diet depends on who you ask.
But there’s no debate about the superfood status of this ONE vegetable. Or that it should be a part of ANY healthy diet.
In fact, studies show this POWER VEGGIE contains compounds that can fight cancer, support blood sugar, boost immunity, and more.
And if tonight’s feast isn’t finalized yet, I suggest adding it to the menu.
Like most kids, I used to HATE broccoli.
But for my mom, eating those “little green trees” was non-negotiable.
As an adult, I’m glad mom was persistent because broccoli is one of the most potent superfoods you can eat.
Just one cup contains 90 percent of your daily requirement of vitamin C (more on this in a moment) and 78 percent of your vitamin K needs.
There’s an unexpected 2.6 grams of protein packed in there, too. And you’ll get a healthy punch of critical minerals like potassium and magnesium in every bite.
But this power veggie TRULY shines when it comes to unique cancer-fighting compounds. These include…
- DIM,
- indole-3-carbinol, and
- sulforaphane.
Studies show these nutrients can prevent the kind of cellular damage that leads to cancer, stop the growth and spread of cancer cells, and help destroy damaged cells that could otherwise lead to cancer.
But the broccoli benefits don’t end there.
This superfood also contains compounds (such as healthy fiber) that can reduce blood sugar levels in folks with type 2 diabetes. And lignans that support cells in your small intestine.
Protecting the integrity of your gut is VITAL because a damaged lining can allow food particles and bacteria to pass through into the bloodstream. Plus, a damaged gut lining can contribute to infections, inflammation, and malabsorption of nutrients.
I mentioned earlier that broccoli contains an abundance of vitamin C. And I meant it.
Broccoli packs in MORE C than oranges! That means it supports a strong immune system and reduces the free radicals that lead to aging and disease.
In other words, Mom was right all along. If you want to be healthy, EAT your broccoli!
P.S. Better blood sugar WITHOUT dieting!
