NEVER Get a PSA Until You Read THIS
For years, the PSA test was the end-all, be-all of prostate testing. Doctors pushed the test on their patients, and the patients dutifully listened.
More recently, studies have revealed that the PSA test isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
We learned that high PSA levels don’t necessarily indicate that a man has prostate cancer… and having normal levels doesn’t mean you DON’T have cancer.
Now, the largest study ever on the PSA has revealed shocking new information about this test.
You’ll want to read this before scheduling your next appointment.
A study just published in JAMA was the largest randomized study ever conducted on the PSA.
It included 400,000 men between 50 and 69 years old who did NOT have prostate symptoms, and it followed them for about 10 years. About half the men had one PSA screening, while the other half did not.
The primary question the researchers wanted to have answered was whether having this screening would reduce the number of deaths caused by prostate cancer. After all, that is the ultimate goal of any cancer screening.
The group that was screened ended up having more cases of cancer, which makes sense. The pro-PSA crowd would likely call that a success:
“Look! We found more cancers in this group! We saved their lives!”
But did they?
Turns out the answer is NO.
Both groups of men—those who got the PSA and those who didn’t—had the SAME percentage of men who died from prostate cancer.
In other words, this screening test might help you find a tumor, but it is USELESS when it comes to saving lives.
That’s because it doesn’t differentiate between aggressive and non-aggressive cancers. In the majority of men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer, the cancer is not aggressive and wouldn’t not kill them.
That’s why, rather than having a surgery that will destroy a man’s quality of life, there’s a growing school of doctors who advocate “watchful waiting.”
You wait to see if a prostate tumor ever starts growing and requires attention. Lots of times, it won’t.
For many men, this can still seem like a roll of the dice. But you don’t have to leave your future up to chance.
There’s a way for you to find out if you have an aggressive prostate tumor.
It’s a new test called the 4Kscore Test. It is incredibly accurate, with fewer than 2 percent of significant cancers being missed, and ZERO more aggressive cancers being missed.
If you have a high PSA reading, talk to your doctor about the getting 4Kscore before making any decisions.
