Powerful LAUGHTER Benefits Revealed
They say that laughter is the best medicine.
Now I know having a good laugh certainly makes me FEEL happier and less stressed. But could a good giggle REALLY be beneficial enough to be called medicine?
A study examining the effects of “laughter therapy” asked that exact question.
And the surprising answer is YES… especially when it comes to one vital organ in particular.
But it’s probably NOT the one you’re thinking of right now.
For the new study, adults with coronary artery disease were divided into two groups.
- Group one watched a serious documentary for two hours.
- Group two watched comedies for two hours.
Follow-up blood tests revealed that the LAUGHTER group had reduced inflammation markers, which indicates how much plaque is in the blood vessels.
They also had a 10 percent improvement in how much oxygen their heart pumped around their bodies. This indicates improvement in the functional capacity of the cardiovascular system.
The yet-to-be peer-reviewed research was presented at the European Society of Cardiology conference in Amsterdam in August.
More research is needed, of course.
But these impressive benefits could be because laughter releases endorphins that reduce stress and inflammation while helping your blood vessels relax.
These effects were SO significant that researchers believe a daily dose of “vitamin L” might be able to reduce heart medications while decreasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.
They say the best things in life are free.
It turns out this is the case for the best medicine as well.
