Prediabetes Fix SLASHES Diabetes Risk 73%! (Study)
If you’ve been diagnosed with prediabetes, count your lucky stars.
This is your body’s wake-up call to act NOW before you end up with type 2 diabetes.
If you’ve received this diagnosis, you typically have less than five years before you develop full-blown diabetes.
Fortunately, taking the right action at the right time can REVERSE prediabetes and put the threat of a type 2 diabetes diagnosis firmly in the rearview mirror.
But that action isn’t what you think…
You’ve likely been told that losing weight is the key to preventing diabetes.
But that’s not necessarily true.
In fact, a recent study highlighted that weight loss alone doesn’t always reverse prediabetes.
About half of the folks who lost 5 percent of their body weight reversed their prediabetes, while the other half didn’t.
What was the difference between the two groups?
It’s WHERE folks lost the fat from.
Those participants who lost more abdominal fat were more likely to achieve “remission.” (Defined as achieving healthy fasting plasma glucose, healthy glucose tolerance, and an HcA1c of less than 39 mmol/mol after 12 months.)
For women, this meant dropping about 1.75 inches from their waistline. For men, this equated to about a 3-inch loss.
Abdominal fat is particularly harmful because it produces an inflammatory response that impacts insulin sensitivity.
Even two years after the intervention, those with prediabetes, who responded to the lifestyle intervention, had an incredible 73 percent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The good news here is that YOU have control over your diabetes risk.
The bad news is that about 80 percent of folks with prediabetes don’t know they have it.
The only way to know where you stand is to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels through routine blood tests.
Please don’t skip this vital step in maintaining your health.
