Shocking Study Reveals Hidden Fruit Danger
Fruit can be fantastic for your health.
Most fruit is high in fiber, low in calories, and rich in nutrients. So, it’s unsurprising that research has tied eating it to better heart health, weight loss, and even reduced cancer risk.
But there’s a catch.
Some fruits are terrible for your health.
Read on to learn how to reap fruit’s health benefits… and avoid its risks.
The problem isn’t the fruit itself. As usual, it’s what humans have done to it.
Pesticides are great for production (and the farmer’s bottom line) but are TERRIBLE for your health.
Many folks know this, so they wash their produce before eating it.
However, a recent study revealed that washing your fruit isn’t enough to remove the pesticides.
Consumer Reports reviewed 30,000 samples from 59 types of fruit and vegetables collected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture over seven years.
Ultimately, they determined pesticides posed “significant” risks in 20 percent of the foods! These included (among others) bell peppers, blueberries, green beans, potatoes, and strawberries.
It also revealed that washing the produce isn’t enough to remove all of those creepy chemicals.
The researchers recommend peeling the fruit. But this is a terrible idea!
Much of the fruit’s fiber and nutrients are contained in the peel—and sometimes, there is no peel to remove.
However, the researchers also noted that pesticides weren’t an issue in the organic produce they tested.
That’s why I only buy organic. It’s more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
