Sudden Cardiac Death? Urgent New Drug Warning
When antidepressants first hit the market, people would sarcastically refer to them as “happy pills.”
Well, trust me, the joke was on all of us – because I’ve seen these drugs make people absolutely miserable.
Their energy levels tank. Their libidos nosedive. They feel like zombies.
And for some of them, their symptoms get worse.
Now, a major heart journal is warning of a terrifying new risk with antidepressants.
They can send your risk of sudden cardiac death through the roof.
And you’ll want to take a few simple steps now to keep yourself safe.
New research published in the official journal of the Heart Rhythm Society should be a wake-up call to every doctor still handing out antidepressants like candy.
Researchers tracked the health records of more than 4 million people in Denmark. And they found that people who had been taking antidepressants for more than six years had a 74% higher risk of sudden cardiac death.
Even people who had only been taking them from 1-5 years increased their risk by 41%.
We’re talking about a heart condition that knocks you out in seconds… and kills you within minutes.
Now, defenders of antidepressants will try to tell you that this is just an “association”… that it doesn’t prove antidepressants caused the condition.
Sure, I guess that’s right…
But the research did find that people who had taken the drugs most recently were at the highest risk.
So good luck explaining that away…
Listen, these drugs are bad news. And research has consistently shown that they don’t deliver much benefit beyond what you’d get from a placebo.
The only thing antidepressants are really good at is causing side effects.
Now, you should never… never… quit antidepressants on your own. The side effects from going cold turkey are brutal.
I’ve helped many patients over the years get off of antidepressants, and replace them with lifestyle interventions (like proper sleep, nutrition, and exercise) that are a lot more effective.
You have to work with a doctor on a plan to taper off of the drugs slowly.
I shared the exact plan I use in the January issue of my Natural Health Response newsletter. If you’re a subscriber, you can access that right here.
