Surprising “JUICE FIX” for Hypertension
Having a condition like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a double-edged sword.
In addition to making breathing difficult, folks with COPD are more than twice as likely to have heart disease.
You see, the low oxygen concentration in the blood caused by COPD puts extra strain on your heart.
Plus, people with COPD also have a higher risk of hypertension.
Fortunately, there’s a natural solution. In fact, it’s been PROVEN to reduce systolic blood pressure in adults living with COPD.
The reason adults with COPD have a high risk of hypertension is that their airway walls become thicker, narrowing the arteries around the lungs.
But believe it or not, BEET juice can help!
Researchers recruited 81 people with COPD and a high systolic blood pressure of 130 mmHg or above (normal is between 90 and 120).
The volunteers took a beet juice supplement for 12 weeks. By the end of the study, their blood pressure was reduced by 4.5 mmHg.
That might seem like a small drop at first glance. But when it comes to blood pressure, there’s nothing small about it. In fact, it can translate to significant heart protection.
Studies show that for every 5 mmHg reduction in systolic blood pressure, there’s a 10 percent reduced risk of developing major heart disease and a 13 percent lower risk of stroke and heart failure.
The results are entirely a surprise, of course. After all, previous studies have linked beet juice to better blood pressure.
The juice battles hypertension because it’s a good source of nitrates.
Our bodies convert nitrates to nitric oxide, which helps blood vessels relax, reducing blood pressure.
Studies show that beet juice ALSO increases exercise capacity. And, of course, folks with COPD can struggle with exercise.
Plus, previous studies have found the juice has potent antioxidant and anti-tumor properties.
Improvements like these positively impact your day-to-day quality of life AND your broader health outlook.
And you DON’T have to have COPD to experience these benefits.
P.S. Mexican “super seeds” SLASH blood pressure.
