And scientists have found a way to do just that.

Women with breast cancer had biopsies of their breast tissue. Then they were divided into two groups: one ate a handful of walnuts per day, and the other didn’t.

After 2-3 weeks, the women underwent surgery, at which point they had their breast tissues examined again.

And you won’t believe what they found.

In those who ate the walnuts, there were changes in gene expression in the tumors. These changes were linked to changes in the tumor that suppress tumor growth – and also changes that increase the odds of surviving breast cancer.

Those incredible results came just from eating walnuts!

But there’s more…because another recent study showed walnuts’ incredible benefits for heart disease as well.

When compared to people who rarely ate nuts, those who ate five or more servings a week had a 17% lower risk of heart disease and a 31% lower risk of death.

This study looked at multiple kinds of nuts but found that tree nuts – like walnuts – were the most protective.

Walnuts might not be a magic pill, but with such strong actions against two top killers, they’re about as close as you can get.
