If you’re diabetic, the holidays can be agonizing.

You have to skip the cookies… cakes… and even the honey-glazed ham.

But there’s one holiday favorite that you should NEVER skip.

Because a new study has found out that ADDING this tasty snack to your diet may be the best thing you can do for your blood sugar.

In fact, it can slash your risk of diabetes in HALF.

According to a recent study, eating just a handful of walnuts a day is one of the best things you can do to help make sure you never get diabetes.

When researchers studied the dietary habits of over 30,000 adults, they found that the people who ate the most walnuts had about half the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

This was even after they took into account factors like age, race, gender, physical activity, and body mass index.

What the big deal about walnuts?

These nuts are a great source of polyunsaturated fat, a healthy fat that studies have already shown can slow the progression of diabetes.

These fats have also been linked with improved blood glucose levels, insulin resistance, and insulin secretion.

This alone makes these nuts a great way to prevent diabetes—and to improve overall metabolic health.

But they’re also the ONLY nut that contains high amounts of the omega-3 fat ALA (alpha-linolenic acid)—a healthy fat often touted for its heart-healthy benefits.

And don’t worry…even though these nuts are high in fat, studies show that they don’t increase your risk of obesity.

This nutty snack is also power-packed with good-for-you nutrients like vitamin E and B6, manganese, and folic acid. They’re low in carbs, but high in fiber. They’re even a good source of protein.

Not surprisingly, then, walnuts can do much more than prevent diabetes.

Studies show that they’re good for your heart (they improve blood vessel function and reduce plaque in the arteries), they’re good for your brain (they’ve been shown to improve memory), and they can even help reduce the risk of cancer (specifically prostate, breast, and colon).

The next time you find yourself reaching for the potato chips, grab a handful of walnuts instead.

Your whole body will thank you.

To a brighter day,
