The Cholesterol Lie That’s Threatening MILLIONS
I’ve told you before…
There’s never been a drug celebrated so widely… for doing so little… as cholesterol-lowering statins.
We’ve had these drugs on the market for nearly 40 years now, so there’s no mystery left. The science has spoken.
And they just don’t work very well, especially when it comes to preventing the things we care about.
Like heart attacks… strokes… or deaths.
But try telling that to the folks in mainstream medicine. They’re now hatching a plan that could put MILLIONS more people on these drugs who don’t need them… and won’t benefit.
And you deserve to hear what’s really going on…
Groups led by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology recently released new cholesterol guidelines.
And, trust me – every time new guidelines are released, they are designed to get MORE people on statins, not fewer.
This time, the recommendations border on insanity.
They would put millions of younger Americans – as young as 30 – on statins, even if they have just borderline risk.
Now, I haven’t seen any evidence that this will save a single life. And the reason I haven’t seen that evidence is because it doesn’t exist.
The average age of an American taking a statin is around 60.
Even among this older population, for folks without heart disease, you have to treat 104 people for five years to prevent a single heart attack.
You have to treat 154 people for five years to prevent a single stroke.
And when those same researchers tried to calculate how many people you had to treat to save a single life, they couldn’t find ANY figure.
I’m not kidding. See the numbers for yourself right here.
How could anyone look at that research and think 30-year-olds would benefit?
60-year-olds aren’t benefiting!
I’ve said it many times – too many of the so-called “health” organizations in America have been totally taken over by the Big Pharma culture. It’s rare these days for them to meet a drug they don’t fall in love with.
And when they start influencing medical practice, that puts all of us in the crosshairs. Because 30-year-olds are not going to be helped by these drugs. But an awful lot of them will be stuck with the side effects, like muscle pain, energy depletion, and even increased risk for diabetes.
Now, maybe your 30s passed a long time ago. But if you have kids or grandkids in this age range, make sure they stay informed.
Because widespread statin use for young people isn’t just bad policy. It’s bad medicine.
