The Invisible Threat to Your Hearing (Here’s What to Do)
You’re finding it harder to keep up with conversations…
The grandkids joke about how loud you keep the TV turned up…
If you’re struggling with hearing loss, you’ve probably been told that it’s just a normal part of getting older.
But there may be a whole lot more to the story…
New science is showing an invisible threat to your hearing that’s coming from your own home.
And I’ve been warning my patients and readers about it for years.
I’ve been talking about the dangers of electromagnetic fields (EMFS) – the form of radiation given off by electronic devices – for years.
And I’m going to keep talking about this. Because my job is to protect you – not the cell phone and wireless internet industries.
There have already been disturbing links between EMFs and cancer, diabetes, infertility, developmental delays, and more.
Now, we’re starting to learn that they could put your hearing at risk, too.
An Italian research team recently looked at how exposing human Schwann cells (the cells that wrap around nerves in the ear and help hearing) to EMFs changed them.
Well, it turns out that EMF exposure activated many of the genes linked to hearing loss.
EMF exposure also changed how these Schwann cells move. Specifically, EMFs increased levels of proteins that help displace Schwann cells and allow them to become mobile.
And you really don’t want that. In the ear, Schwann cells usually stay in place to support nerves that detect sound.
The research is still early, but it’s troubling. And it wasn’t even the first disturbing finding to come out of this research team.
They had previously found that exposure to EMFs led Schwann cells to undergo “oncotransformation” – a process that can lead to cancer.
I’ve told you before, there’s absolutely no one coming to help us on this. If the full truth on EMFs came out, entire trillion-dollar industries would be disrupted.
So you’re going to have to limit EMF exposure yourself. Here are some simple tips to get you started:
- Carry your phone in an EMF-blocking pouch (they’re easy to find online) and keep your phone off or in airplane mode when you’re not using it.
- Unplug electronic devices when you’re not using them, especially at night.
- Use a hard-wired Internet connection instead of WiFi.
- Consider hiring a Building Biology Environmental Consultant to assess EMFs and other risks in your home. You can find one near you at https://buildingbiologyinstitute.org/
