Any cancer diagnosis is devastating

But skin cancer? That one’s personal for me.

I watched my younger brother battle metastatic melanoma… and I’ll be darned if I let that happen to anyone else because of BAD advice.

The “sun safety” rules you’ve been following? They’re not just wrong. They’re CAUSING the very cancer they claim to prevent.

Despite decades of sunscreen ads and anti-sun campaigns, melanoma rates have more than doubled over the past 30 years. It’s currently the most frequently diagnosed cancer in the world.

Mainstream’s advice clearly isn’t working. Millions are being strong-armed into the WRONG strategies.

Meanwhile, a simple solution could slash your risk by 54 percent—for just pennies a day.

For decades we’ve been told sun exposure will give us cancer. We’ve been advised to cover ourselves in sunscreen from head to toe, wear hats, and to seek out the shade.

But these “avoid-the-sun” strategies aren’t just ineffective… they’re downright dangerous.

Hiding from the sun could shorten your lifespan by up to two years. In fact, it’s just as bad for you as smoking and sends your skin cancer risk through the roof.

What’s the link? Lack of sunlight increases your risk of vitamin D deficiency and low levels of D are linked to skin cancer.

But it turns out that while mainstream medicine’s skin cancer “solution” adds fuel to the fire, nature has something that can douse the flames.

A major study of over 33,000 US veterans identified a widely available, inexpensive solution that slashes skin cancer risk.

This supplement isn’t exotic, experimental, or hard to get your hands on. It’s a form of vitamin B3 called nicotinamide.

Study participants taking 500 mg of the vitamin twice a day for more than a month saw a 14 percent drop in their risk of developing any kind of new skin cancer.

But in folks who had already battled skin cancer—in other words, those at the highest risk—there was a 54 percent drop in their risk of developing another skin cancer.

Combine that with healthy levels of the sunshine vitamin—vitamin D—and you could become practically skin-cancer proof.

So where did mainstream medicine go so wrong?

Easy—it’s short-sighted.

Sure, avoiding the sun blocks harmful UV rays… but it also prevents your body’s repair systems from doing their job.

Nicotinamide works like a pit crew for your skin cells—repairing damage, cranking up cellular energy, and dousing inflammation before it spirals out of control.

Plus, this common vitamin supports your immune system helping it to identify and eliminate abnormal cells before they become cancerous.

While study participants supplemented with 500 mg twice daily, I always recommend getting nutrients from food first.

To naturally increase your vitamin B3 levels, be sure to eat plenty of meat, chicken, and fish – if you follow the Paleo diet like me, with its focus on all-natural foods, that should be easy to do. Then talk with your doctor about whether further supplementation is right for you.

But for comprehensive skin-cancer protection don’t stop there. You’ll also need to do the opposite of what you’ve been told for decades—spend MORE time in the sun.

I always get some sun exposure first thing in the morning, which sets your circadian rhythm for the day. That is also protective against cancer.

Then aim for at least 15-20 minutes in the afternoon sun daily. It’s the best source of vitamin D, and one of your top protectors against skin cancer.

If you can’t get enough D from the sun to get your levels up to 60 ng/mL (this is what I personally aim for as a minimum), then you can discuss taking a supplement with your doctor. Just make sure it’s the D3 form.
