This group is THREE TIMES more likely to die of cancer reoccurrence
Skipping exercise increases the risk of dying
Did you know that there are more than 17 million cancer survivors in the U.S.?
That’s great news, but I also know if you’ve had cancer once, you can face a constant fear that it’ll come back again.
If you’re in this camp, I have some encouraging news for you today.
There’s something you can do—starting today—that will lower your risk of disease recurrence and early death.
For this study, researchers tracked 1,500 cancer survivors for up to nine years. They wanted to determine the impact their level of physical activity had on their risk for cancer recurrence and death during that time period.
The results were dramatic.
Twenty-four percent of those who reported zero leisure-time physical activity died during the study’s timeframe, compared to eight percent of those who exercised for 150 minutes per week.
And nine percent who reported zero physical activity died specifically from cancer, compared to three percent of those who exercised for 150 minutes per week.
In other words, the non-exercisers had a THREE TIMES HIGHER risk of dying.
Clearly, not exercising is dangerous… but sitting too much (even if you engage in physical activity!) can be even worse.
Cancer survivors who reported sitting for more than eight hours a day had an 80 percent increased risk of dying during this study period…
And they faced DOUBLE the risk of dying due to a recurrence of the disease.
If you’ve already beaten cancer once, you want to do everything in your power to keep it away for good.
Getting a good amount of physical activity—AND not sitting too much—are powerful weapons that could make that dream a reality.
