I don’t believe in the fountain of youth.

But I do believe there are steps you can take to help look and feel younger. .

I also believe it’s never too late to start—and a recent study agrees with me.

It highlights three critical factors that could help you live longer… even if you start after you’re 70.

For this study, researchers evaluated the impact of supplements and exercise on biological aging in older adults.

Biological age represents how fast your cells are aging, while chronological age is the number of years you’ve been alive.

Think of biological age as an indicator of how well you’re aging.

For the study, 700 adults, 70 and older, were assigned to take either a placebo or a combination of omega-3s and vitamin D. They were then divided into either an exercise or no exercise group.

To determine the impact these interventions had on aging, researchers evaluated the participants’ epigenetic clocks, which are a considered reliable markers of biological age.

Results showed that the adults who took…

  • 1 gram of omega-3s,
  • 2,000 IUs of vitamin D, and
  • 30 minutes of exercise three times per week

…slowed their biological age by nearly 4 months over three years.

At first, this might not sound like much.

But the fact that these small lifestyle changes had any impact on aging—especially when started this late in the game—is pretty exciting.

Just imagine how beneficial they would be if you did them even longer.

The study authors pointed out that their previous studies had already shown multiple benefits of omega-3s, vitamin D, and exercise in older adults.

For example, earlier research finds that taking omega-3s can lower the risk of falls by 10 percent and reduce the rate of infections by 13 percent.

In other research, omega-3s, vitamin D, and exercise lowered frailty by 39 percent and invasive cancer by 61 percent.

In other words, the fact that omega-3s, vitamin D, and exercise are good for you is nothing new.

But confirming that they can turn back your biological clock is an exciting finding that should have all of us taking midday walks and eating salmon for dinner.

P.S. Fight all 12 hallmarks of aging.
