When you have multiple sclerosis (MS), your body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering (myelin) on your nerves.

This disrupts the flow of electrical signals between the brain and the rest of your body, leading to numbness, muscle spasms, mobility issues, and pain.

More than 2.8 million people are living with this incurable autoimmune disease.

But now scientists say a simple vitamin could help….

Studies have reached two conclusions about vitamin D and MS.

First, those with the disease often have low vitamin D levels. And second, healthy levels lower your MS risk.

But what if you’re already diagnosed?

Well, vitamin D can help YOU, too.

Let’s look at what the latest research reveals about this promising connection…

A recent study found it’s a must-have for MS patients because it can slow disease progression.

The D-Lay MS trial included 313 recently diagnosed MS patients who weren’t taking medication for the disease and had vitamin D levels of less than 100 nmol/L (nanomoles per liter).

The participants took a high-dose vitamin D supplement (100,000 IU oral cholecalciferol) every 2 weeks for 24 months or a placebo.

New or worsening symptoms or new damage to the central nervous system developed in 60 percent of the volunteers taking vitamin D compared to 74 percent taking a placebo.

But the benefits didn’t end there. The vitamin D group also went nearly TWICE as long without disease activity (occurring at 432 days versus 224 days).

In other words, vitamin D slows progression and preserves quality of life for those in the early stages of MS.

Ultimately, those who had the LOWEST vitamin D levels (less than 30 nmol/L) benefitted the MOST from the supplementation.

These findings have important implications for anyone managing MS.

MS is an incurable condition, so slowing disease activity is critical to boost your quality of life and preserve neurological function.

Vitamin D could be a vital part of that process.

But keep in mind that while I recommend boosting lagging vitamin D levels, the amount used in this study was extremely high, and I only recommend taking that much with the guidance of your doctor.

In my opinion, by far the best source of vitamin D is the sun. MS incidence correlates to higher latitude. The further from the equator you get, the greater the risk of MS.

If you have MS (or it runs in your family), I encourage you to discuss your vitamin D levels with your healthcare provider.

P.S. Ease the troubling digestive symptoms of multiple sclerosis NATURALLY!
