[WARNING] Eyedrops Kill 4 and Blind 8?!
The headlines read like a horror movie title.
We’re fighting an outbreak of a rare, drug-resistant bacterial infection that infects your eyes.
Eight people have lost their vision, and four have had their eyeballs REMOVED. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, three people DIED.
I feel terrible for these individuals and their families… especially since this real-life nightmare was caused by an FDA-approved over-the-counter drug.
If you use ANY eyedrops, you’ll want to keep reading…
I’ve often warned my readers against using eyedrops over the years. Not because they’re dangerous but because they’re ineffective, in the long run.
But today, my warning is DIRE.
Eyedrops Linked to Infections and Deaths
A few brands of eyedrops have been contaminated with a dangerous bacterium called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Any kind of eye infection is risky. But this particular bacterium is wreaking havoc because it tends to be drug-resistant.
As a result of being infected with this bacterium, some people have lost their vision, others have lost their eyeballs, and a few have lost their lives.
In addition to the three confirmed deaths, 70 people across 16 states have suffered from this nasty drug-resistant infection.
Even worse, you could STILL be at risk even if you don’t use eyedrops.
You see, this bacterium can spread through contaminated water or soil. And in healthcare settings, it can spread from person to person through contaminated hands, surfaces, and equipment.
I don’t tell you this to scare you but to make you aware of how serious it is so you can be vigilant and ACT.
Check your Medicine Cabinet for THESE
The eyedrops in question have been recalled by the FDA, but I’ll list the brand names here in case you already have them in your medicine cabinet:
- EzriCare Artificial Tears Lubricant Eyedrops (implicated in the current infections)
- Delsam Pharma Artificial Tears Lubricant Eyedrops (linked to the current infections)
- Delsam Pharma Eye Ointment (recalled due to possible microbial contamination because it is produced by the same manufacturer)
Both brands are manufactured by Global Pharma Healthcare.
Additional recalls that are not related to the outbreak include:
- Clear Eyes Once Daily, Eye Allergy Itch Relief (due to a failed impurities test)
- Purely Soothing 15% MSM Drops (may not be sterile)
- Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution, 0.15% (faulty caps could lead to unsterile solutions)
If you have ANY concerning symptoms of a potential eye infection—discharge, redness, light sensitivity, blurry vision—seek immediate medical care.
And if you have any of these products, toss them in the trash. Try omega-3 supplements to improve your dry eyes instead.
Studies show omega-3s increase the level of fatty acids in the Meibomian gland secretions. This slows the evaporation of the tears improving dry eye symptoms.
P.S. If you want to maintain your independence as you age, you must take care of your peepers. Start NOW with these 5 foods to protect your eyesight.
