3 MORE Reasons to Love Vitamin D
I’m a BIG vitamin D fan.
Having adequate levels of this potent hormone is essential for a long, healthy life.
Not a week goes by that we don’t get at least one new study revealing yet another reason why vitamin D is essential for your health.
Just this past week alone, three more studies emerged showing why D is critical for you AND the kids in your life.
Keep reading for a quick roundup of the latest exciting research…
First, vitamin D deficiency can increase the frequency of migraines.
In a study of over 9,000 volunteers, researchers found that folks with low vitamin D levels were more likely to suffer from migraines.
Compared to participants with the lowest vitamin D levels, people with the highest had a 16 percent lower migraine prevalence. So, raising your levels might reduce the frequency of these painful headaches.
Second, vitamin D could reduce your risk of developing dementia.
In a study of 12,500 older, dementia-free adults, those who took vitamin D supplements had a 40 percent lower risk of developing dementia—and a 15 percent higher 5-year survival rate—compared to those who didn’t take D.
Vitamin D had a significantly higher protective effect for women than men, with ladies who were taking D having a 49 percent lower risk of dementia.
Lastly, vitamin D could help protect against seasonal respiratory infections.
In a two-year study that included 194 children from 1 to 18 years old, kids with the highest vitamin D intake had an infection rate of 16.7 percent compared to a stunning 60 percent infection rate in those with the lowest.
Overall, greater vitamin D intake was associated with a 78 percent decrease in the risk of a respiratory infection.
Regardless of age, the message is clear… vitamin D is critical for continued good health.
