Lung Cancer Risk SOARING in Non-Smokers
Think only smokers need to worry about lung cancer? Think again!
You can develop this deadly disease even if you’ve never smoked a day in your life.
In fact, a stunning recent study found that in specific populations, 50 to 90 percent of the people who have lung cancer have never smoked.
Even worse, lung cancer in non-smokers is on the RISE.
But what’s behind this alarming increase?
Just so we’re clear… the number one cause of lung cancer IS smoking. However, about 20 percent of lung cancer cases occur in folks who don’t smoke.
We’re ALL at risk. But some of us have even higher odds stacked against us.
A recent study showed that Asian-American women account for HALF of all lung cancer cases in women who have never smoked. Chinese- and Indian-American women specifically are at the HIGHEST risk, representing 80 to 90 percent of the non-smoker lung cancer cases.
Many of these women come from immigrant families, were they are often exposed to cooking oil fumes, secondhand smoke, air pollution, and industry emissions from where they live. Genetic factors may also contribute to the higher risk.
These factors do warrant lung cancer screening with a low-dose CT scan.
However, one thing this study didn’t mention—and something that affects ALL of us regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender—is the well-established #2 cause of lung cancer in the US.
It’s also the #1 cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.
It’s an odorless, invisible natural gas called radon. It’s ALSO radioactive, and it could lurk in your home right now.
Short- and long-term testing kits are available to purchase online. Or you can have a professional inspection.
If you’re a Natural Health Response subscriber, I’ll tell you all about this hidden lung cancer risk factor—and the steps you can take to ELIMINATE your exposure to it—in the upcoming issue of my newsletter.
