The One Diet You Should NEVER Try
Dear Reader,
When it comes to diets, I’ve heard it all.
Counting calories, drinking meal-replacement shakes, eating cabbage soup all day.
You name it, people have tried it.
Lately, the controversy has been over eating multiple mini meals throughout the day, versus three main meals.
One of these plans will work in the short-term, but in the end, you’ll end up gaining it all back and then some.
The other can put you on the right track to losing the weight for good.
The biggest argument for eating lots of small meals throughout the day is that it keeps your metabolism higher, which allows you to burn more calories.
Plus, you get to eat all day long!
Sounds good, right?
There’s just one problem… it’s all wrong!
Research shows that eating MORE throughout the day doesn’t ENHANCE metabolism.
In fact, controlled human experiments show that there is NO METABOLIC ADVANTAGE to eating the same number of calories in a bunch of mini meals as opposed to three big meals.
But there’s another issue here. One most diet gurus don’t bother mentioning.
Your body has a hormone called leptin. It sends a signal to your brain to tell it you’re full once you’ve eaten enough. It also stimulates fat burning.
The problem is that most overweight people are leptin resistant – which means their brain isn’t getting the message to stop eating, and in the process they’re not burning fat.
I won’t go into the how’s and why’s of leptin resistance right now. The important thing to know is:
- If you’re over overweight or obese, you are most likely leptin resistant.
- You will not be able to successfully lose the weight until you fix your leptin sensitivity.
And can you guess the way to do that?
Eat just three meals per day!
The reason this is so important comes back to your circadian rhythm. Because WHEN you eat is just as important as WHAT you eat.
Other important steps in restoring your leptin sensitivity include eating a high protein breakfast, cutting back on carbs, and not eating more than four hours before bedtime.
Restoring your body’s leptin sensitivity will boost your metabolism and decrease those cravings—the keys to successfully losing weight.
Before embarking on the “latest, greatest” fad diet, try implementing these few simple changes.
You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to lose a little weight.
To a brighter day,
