The SHOCKING Way to Prevent Cancer
Cancer treatment has come a long way… but not far enough if you ask me.
After all, cancer is predicted to overtake heart disease as the number one killer.
And since there’s no sign of a cure coming anytime soon, the best thing you can do is to take steps to make sure you never get it in the first place.
Avoiding tobacco continues to top the list as the leading preventable cause of cancer.
But what just came in as number 2 will SHOCK you.
You already know that all that excess belly fat can increase your risk of conditions like heart disease and type 2 diabetes…
But believe it or not, it can increase the risk of cancer, too.
The obesity/cancer connection hasn’t made the mainstream yet, but studies continue to come out showing the alarming connection between obesity and cancer.
The latest is a study out of Canada.
The ComPARe (Canadian Population Attributable Risks of Cancer) looked at more than 30 different types of cancer, comparing them to 20 modifiable risk factors.
Those modifiable factors included things like smoking, inactivity, diet, and of course, being overweight.
Overall, they found that 40% of cancers can be prevented.
And while tobacco predictably stayed at the top of the list, being overweight came in a close second.
Based on current statistics, the authors predicted that in the next 23 years, the number of cancers caused by excess weight will triple.
Previous studies have shown that there are 13 different cancers have been tied to excess body weight. These include:
- Gallbladder
- Stomach
- Liver
- Pancreas
- Kidney
- Ovaries
- Uterus
- Colon and rectum
- Meningioma
- multiple myeloma
- And adenocarcinoma of the esophagus.
This study was conducted in Canada, but the risks of obesity don’t stop at the Canadian/American border.
If you want to stay healthy and cancer-free, don’t just hope for the best. Take matters into your own hands by making sure you’re a healthy weight.
