Food Trick SLASHES Heart & Diabetes Risk
The true test of whether any drug, procedure, or medical device really works is if it can help you live longer.
The same is true for natural techniques as well.
That’s why I was so excited to read about a study that highlights a simple lifestyle change that can actually reduce your risk of dying from diabetes or heart disease.
The best part? You can start right away.
Have you ever heard the saying, eat breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper?
A recent study published in the journal Diabetes Care has shown that there’s a good reason to follow the advice of this adage.
It could save your life—especially if you’re diabetic.
In a study that analyzed over 4,500 diabetics for 11 years, researchers wanted to find out if WHEN people ate the majority of their calories impacted their risk of dying from diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
Those who had the greatest difference in energy intake between breakfast and dinner (meaning they ate larger dinners) were more than TWICE as likely to have died from diabetes, and more than 69 percent more likely to have died from cardiovascular disease (compared to those with the least difference in energy intake).
But here’s what was really interesting: The higher risk of death in the “dinner like a king” group remained regardless of the quality of the diet.
That brings us back, once again, to the fact that WHEN you eat is just as important as WHAT.
Further research showed that shifting just 5 percent of your calories from later in the day to earlier in the day lowered the risk of dying from diabetes by 4 percent, and lowered the risk of dying from heart disease by 5 percent.
I’m not saying you have to eat a big breakfast every day.
In fact, there are plenty of days that I don’t eat breakfast at all because I’m practicing intermittent fasting.
The point is that whenever you do eat—and whatever it is that you’re eating—just make sure you’re not eating your heaviest meal later in the day.
