The 2 Worst Types of Food for Cancer (Shocking!)
Cancer cells have a voracious appetite.
They’re like a teenage boy. I had three teenage boys at once, and I can tell you from experience… they can eat you out of house and home.
The food you put in your body can either accelerate the growth of cancer cells… or starve them.
Two recent studies highlighted two foods that cancer cells LOVE.
These are two things you’ll definitely want to avoid.
Two recent studies identified two factors that can feed tumors and accelerate cancer growth.
The first is a high-fat diet.
Numerous studies have shown that being overweight or obese can increase your risk of over a dozen different types of cancer.
Harvard researchers looked deeper into why this connection exists.
What they found was that eating a high-fat diet impairs immune function and accelerates tumor growth by allowing cancer cells to outcompete immune cells for fuel.
A high-fat diet reduces the numbers and anti-tumor activity of a type of immune cell inside tumors called CD8+T.
Cancer cells actually reprogram their metabolism when there is more fat available so that they are better able to benefit from the available energy.
This deprives T cells (which help fight cancer) of fuel, while accelerating tumor growth.
It’s a double whammy.
The second type of food that speeds tumor growth is sugar.
It’s no secret that sugar is bad for you, but it’s possible that cancer cells like it even more than your taste buds do.
In a study published in the journal Nature Communications, researchers observed yeast cells for more than nine years. These particular cells act like cancerous cells.
The researchers found that cancer cells get energy from fermented sugar, and that the fermentation process leads to the multiplication and expansion of the yeast cells.
This process is starkly different from healthy cells, which use oxygen to convert glucose into energy for the body to use.
This isn’t the first study to show the dangerous link between sugar and cancer.
Previous studies also found that sugar promotes the growth of cancer cells.
Studies have also linked eating a lot of sugar to an increased risk of specific cancers, like esophageal cancer.
Consuming large amounts of sugar can increase your risk of obesity, which itself has been shown to increase the risk of more than a dozen types of cancer.
You don’t have to swear off sugar for the rest of your life. But you should limit it.
It will help your waistline… and your cancer risk.
