How to get the benefits of cannabis… without smoking
There’s no denying that cannabis (aka, medical marijuana) has some powerful medicinal properties—especially when it comes to pain relief, nausea relief, and weight loss.
But you might be hesitant to try it—even if you live in a state that has already legalized its use.
If that’s you, I’ve got great news.
Because it turns out you can get all the benefits of medical marijuana… without the marijuana.
The reason why CBD (the non-psychoactive part of marijuana) can impact so many areas of your health is because of its impact on your endocannabinoid receptors.
When you ingest cannabis, it binds to endocannabinoid receptors in your central nervous system and your peripheral nervous system.
That’s why it has such wide-reaching benefits.
But you don’t have to use marijuana to active your endocannabinoid system… all you have to do is exercise.
For this study, 78 people with arthritis were divided into two groups: one did 15 minutes of strength training every day for six weeks, and the other didn’t.
At the end of the six weeks, the group that exercised had higher levels of the cannabis-like substances, endocannabinoids.
Instead of getting it through marijuana, the exercise caused the body to produce them on its own.
The way it produced these changes is even more interesting. It was by altering the gut microbiome!
The exercise caused the gut to not only produce more endocannabinoids, but to lower levels of inflammatory substances (cytokines) and to increase anti-inflammatory substances.
The net result?
A dramatic reduction in pain.
I’m all for taking advantage of medical marijuana.
But if you want to get the same health bang without it, try regular exercise instead.
