Revealed! The REAL Cause of Migraine Headaches
If you’ve ever suffered from migraines, you know you can’t just pop a few pills and send the pain packing.
These excruciating headaches can leave you bedridden for days. And all too often, nothing seems to help but time.
Of course, that doesn’t stop Big Pharma from trying.
They throw anything they can at this condition—anti-depressants, anti-seizure drugs, blood pressure meds, and even BOTOX—hoping something will stick.
(Newsflash… nothing does.)
But researchers recently identified a key vitamin deficiency that could be to blame for severe migraines—which means that fixing it could provide a remarkably simple solution.
A recent study included 127 patients who suffered from migraines and 45 people who didn’t (the control subjects).
Overall, patients in the migraine group had significantly lower vitamin B12 than those in the control group.
In addition, B12 levels were lower in people who suffered chronic migraines (15 days of migraines per month over 3 months) compared to those who had less frequent attacks.
Other studies have confirmed this vitamin connection.
In one, blood levels of B12 were significantly lower in patients who suffered from migraines than those who didn’t. In addition, those folks with the highest B12 levels were 80 percent less likely to experience migraines compared than those with the lowest levels.
Another study looked at migraine sufferers who also had high homocysteine (an indicator of B12 deficiency). When these volunteers were given vitamin B12, folic acid, and vitamin B6, their homocysteine levels dropped—and their migraine-related disability improved.
This is an essential piece of the puzzle for this often-baffling condition.
B12 is a critical nutrient responsible for creating nerve cells and DNA, bone health, neurological function, and healthy nerve function.
Many older adults tend to be deficient because, as we age, our bodies don’t absorb it as well.
If you’re battling migraines, make sure you’re eating plenty of foods rich in B12, like fish, meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products.
For an added boost, consider a B12 supplement.
P.S. Migraines aren’t the only thing you need to worry about when your B12 levels drop too low. Earlier research has connected low B12 and brain shrinkage. You’ll find all the frightening details… and what you can do to slow the shrink… right here.
