Block Brain Disease One Mug at a Time
One of the biggest pitfalls of mainstream medicine is that it is primarily symptom-based.
They have a separate drug to treat every symptom you can imagine. But all too often, uncovering and treating the underlying CAUSE of those symptoms never happens.
And when the drugs cause side effects, they pile on even MORE meds to treat those new symptoms.
Nature has a far more logical and efficient approach. And one recent study is a perfect example of that.
Researchers uncovered ONE natural substance that can combat TWO devastating brain diseases: Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.
The best part? There are no sickening side effects. And there’s a good chance you’re already taking advantage of it.
I love it when I can sing the praises of one of my favorite beverages… coffee.
I’ve shared countless studies over the years showing that drinking coffee can help protect you against depression, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis.
It’s linked to a lower risk of colorectal and liver cancers. And scientists have confirmed it can even help you live longer.
But the java benefits don’t end there. Researchers say coffee can combat two devastating brain conditions: Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.
Parkinson’s is characterized by movement problems like shakiness, imbalance, and lack of coordination. Lewy body dementia is a form of dementia that causes problems with thinking, movement, and mood.
In both conditions, there’s a buildup of abnormal proteins in the brain called Lewy bodies.
In a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers wanted to find out if coffee could help protect against the buildup of Lewy bodies.
To test this, they gave mice two compounds found in coffee: caffeine and EHT (something that coats the coffee bean).
Individually, the substances didn’t have any effect. But when they were combined, they “flipped the switch” on the part of the brain that STOPS the buildup of Lewy bodies.
The two substances activate a part of the brain that allows it to DESTROY an underlying cause of both Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia. And as a result, they were able to slow or STOP the development of these devastating brain diseases.
As always, scientists want to do more research. I think that’s a great idea. After all, this was a preliminary animal study.
But in the meantime, go ahead and keep enjoying your coffee. Your body… and BRAIN… will thank you.
P.S. Do you LOVE coffee but worry about its effects on your heart health? Stop fretting and pour yourself another cup. Research confirms not only is coffee NOT bad for your heart… it’s actually GREAT for your heart health. Click through for all the delicious details.
