EVERY Sip Drives Down Alzheimer’s Risk
If you’re not already thinking about ways to reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s disease, the time to start is NOW.
Cases are projected to TRIPLE in the next 40 years.
Those aren’t good odds.
So, today I’m going to share two compounds you can incorporate into your diet starting TODAY that have shown to strike the heart of Alzheimer’s disease.
There’s a lot we still don’t know about Alzheimer’s. But we DO know that there’s a buildup of toxic beta-amyloid plaques in the brains of people with the disease.
These plaques collect between neurons, preventing the nerve cells from effectively communicating with one another. This has disastrous effects on memory, language, and motor function.
The search has been on for ways to reduce the formation of these toxic plaques, hoping that doing so will slow the disease’s progression.
In a new study, researchers tested 21 supplements, medications, and other compounds on brain cells in a lab setting. Two substances were found to reduce the formation of beta-amyloid plaques:
- Green tea catechins are natural antioxidants. These potent compounds have already been studied for their impact on diseases like cancer.
- Resveratrol is a compound in red wine that’s been studied primarily for its anti-aging benefits.
Overall, the results of this study showed that green tea catechins and resveratrol had strong anti-plaque properties and functional neuroprotective effects.
And unlike the current Alzheimer’s medications that cause devastating side effects, these natural compounds did so with little to no side effects.
Three other compounds that also had a strong effect against the plaques are curcumin, metformin (the diabetes drug), and a compound called citicoline.
A study like this doesn’t prove that these compounds will prevent Alzheimer’s, of course. But the results are promising, and it can’t hurt to add them to your health arsenal while we wait on more research.
P.S. It turns out these same two powerful compounds could ALSO help you rev up your metabolism to burn more body fat. Click here for the slimming details.
