Mouthwash BEATS Arthritis PAIN?!
When you need to make an appointment to see a doctor about your joint pain, you don’t call a dentist.
After all, what do your TEETH have to do with your joints?
Well, it turns out MORE than you might think.
In fact, this crazy connection could present a unique way to BEAT arthritis pain.
The link between gum disease and joint pain was found by accident. It was hidden in data that typically is thrown away.
Initially, the researchers set out to track changes in gene expression that occur during an arthritis flare-up to find clues to the underlying cause.
But they stumbled upon something EXCITING when they decided to look for germs in the samples they were taking from their volunteers.
The germs consistently changed in ALL of the patients prior to their flare-ups. In particular, there was an increase in bacteria linked to gum disease.
As crazy as that sounds at first, it’s not as far-fetched as it might seem. Gum disease bacteria has already been linked to other major conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
And we can now add joint pain to that list.
These troublesome bugs can cause such collateral damage because they don’t stay put in your mouth.
They can enter your bloodstream where they’re then carried to other parts of your body, and from there they can cause inflammation and weaken your immune system.
The best solution is to cut the problem off at its source: your mouth.
And the top way to take care of your oral health is to eliminate the things that promote bad bacteria in the first place. That includes sugar, processed food, and hydrogenated oils.
Based on this research, the researchers also theorized that it could be possible to treat joint pain with bacteria-killing mouthwash.
This has yet to be tested. But bacteria-killing rinses already exist. You can buy them over-the-counter or through a prescription (the products vary in strength).
Talk to your doctor about what kind would be best for you.
P.S. It’s clear that gum disease affects far more than your gums. The condition is tied to some of our day’s most serious and deadly diseases. But HOW can it be so destructive? CLICK TO DISCOVER the answer.
