Popular Pain Reliever DESTROYS Memory?
Any time mainstream medicine offers you a quick-fix solution, there’s always a catch.
You’re usually robbing Peter to pay Paul. And the catch is that your body is both Peter AND Paul.
Case in point…
If your memory has been slipping lately and you’ve used one of the mainstream’s most popular solutions for pain relief, you could be experiencing the “catch” firsthand.
Doctors LOVE to prescribe steroids. They’re a catch-all anti-inflammatory drug.
They reduce the symptoms of many common medical issues, including asthma, allergies, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and more. And it’s true, they can be helpful for a little while.
The problem is that you can gain sleep, mood, and even cognitive function problems in exchange for that relief. But it’s rare that anyone recognizes them as side effects of the steroids.
But in a recent animal study, researchers specifically tested the effects of steroids on memory processing.
The disturbing study showed that even short-term steroid use—as little as 5 days—impaired memory performance.
A closer look revealed that the steroids significantly impacted the hippocampus, an area of the brain that’s CRITICAL for learning and memory.
This study didn’t examine the long-term impact on memory and brain function. But if those are the effects after just five days, it’s not hard to imagine what months or years of taking the drugs might do.
The bottom line is you should try to avoid taking steroids long-term. Because in addition to messing with brain function they…
- thin bones
- weaken muscle
- cause weight gain
- trigger sleep problems
Steroids work by reducing inflammation in your body. But you don’t need these drugs to dial down inflammation.
There are plenty of ways to ease inflammation, like eating MORE of these seven foods.
