[Alert] Daily Habit is Aging You FAST!
Most humans have a basic survival instinct that makes us want to live as long as possible.
But you’d never know it when you consider all of the dangerous, toxic, downright stupid things we do that make us sick, miserable, and (ultimately) dead.
Some things are obvious… like smoking or eating Twinkies.
Others aren’t so obvious.
There’s something about 80% of us are doing every day that can kill brain cells and make you age faster.
And it’s probably one of your daily habits.
Let’s be honest. Kids aren’t the only ones stuck in front of computer screens and staring at their phones all day long.
“Screen time” as it’s called, is even increasing in people 60 and older, according to a new poll by the Pew Research Center.
And none of it is good for your health.
Lots of studies tie cell phone use to decreases in intelligence and memory. It’s been connected to sleep disruption and depression.
And more alarming research has linked heavy usage to brain tumors.
Now, the latest research is in, and it has found that exposure to the blue light-emitting from screens like your cell phone, computer, and television causes accelerated aging.
That’s because all of that extra blue light can damage your eyes and your brain cells.
This particular study was done on fruit flies. It may seem strange to compare the impact of something on fruit flies to its impact on humans.
But in reality, the cellular makeup and development of fruit flies is surprisingly similar to humans. Yet because their lifespan is so much shorter, it allows researchers to have a peek into the impact something has over a lifetime.
In other words, they’re the perfect species to test what ages you faster—or what can slow down the aging process.
So for this study, the researchers exposed fruit flies to 12 hours of blue LED light, followed by 12 hours of darkness.
Those exposed to the blue light died much faster than those who were not exposed.
The blue light also impacted their behavior.
All of this means that staring at your phone or computer all day doesn’t just rot your brain because of the CONTENT of what you’re looking at… it rots your brain because HOW that content is displayed.
So even if you’re using your phone or iPad to do your daily Bible readings, you might be feeding your soul, but your brain is going to suffer.
Fortunately, there are ways you can help counteract this damage without giving up all of your smart devices.
Start by getting plenty of natural sunlight, which helps set your body’s circadian rhythm.
Then, you can limit your blue light exposure in a few ways:
- Use all of your smart devices less.
- Wear blue-light-blocking glasses when using these devices.
- Purchase screens or filters that filter out the blue light from the get-go.
