Alert! Seniors Taking WRONG Heart Meds
You trust your doctor to know what’s best for you.
So when he hands you a prescription for a heart medication, you assume it’s the right drug and the right dose.
But what if that’s not true?
Frightening new research proves that people are routinely being given the wrong heart medications – and at doses that are dangerously high.
And you’ll never believe why it’s happening.
According to a recent study, more than 11 million people are taking the wrong heart med, or the wrong dose.
They’re literally subjecting themselves to risks and side effects for nothing.
How could this possibly be happening?
It all comes down to how doctors are diagnosing coronary artery disease.
In lots of cases, they are using guidelines that are DECADES old.
And, according to a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, that led to doctors giving the wrong drug or dosage for 20% of heart patients.
I’m not surprised. The medical establishment is notorious for dragging its feet on updating treatment protocols. And even when there are new guidelines—like for determining high blood pressure—they’re often wrong!
The most commonly mis-prescribed heart disease drugs include such biggies as statins, aspirin, and ACE inhibitors.
All of these drugs come with serious side effects that make them barely worth the risk even when you DO have a legitimate heart problem.
But to take them when you don’t need them is just asking for trouble.
First of all, if you’re taking ANY heart disease medication, talk to your doctor about whether you have any other non-drug options that could work for you.
Then you won’t have to face the risk of taking a drug you don’t need OR the side effects that go with it.
And if you decide to stay on the med, have a frank talk with your doc to make sure he’s using the most current standards for treatment.
If you have heart issues, you have enough to deal with. Being given the wrong prescription shouldn’t have to be added to the list.
To a brighter day,
